The D45 is the early version of the D45x series. It is a vertical configuration with a distinctive style.
The nickel plated boiler is 65mm diameter x 175mm tall, mounted on a raised plinth over the tablet burner tray. It has a long thin water level sight glass. Fittings include a standard Wilesco spring safety valve and a lever type whistle. The whistle is fitted using an adaptor and I suspect it is not original. The boiler has a central flue with a brass chimney. It carries the burner gasses but not the engine exhaust.
The steam feed pipe has an in line regulator. The single cylinder is a double acting type; 9mm bore x 16mm stroke with a typical Wilesco style "piston" valve and slip eccentric reversing. It has a simple oiler fitted to the steam chest. It is mounted on a cast frame. The crank shaft has a large 77mm 5 spoke flywheel and a double pulley. The exhaust pipe is directed down towards a drip tray, which sits in the plinth under the cylinder but has no fixing.
The whole is in generally good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. However, I suspect some parts might not be original; like the whistle, burner and chimney.
