I bought this engine off Ebay as a scrapper, so long ago I can't find the record of the price I paid. It wasn't much anyway. It is an electrically powered version and there was some doubt about what voltage it was intended for. There was the remains of a label which appeared to say 110V but it was fitted with a European (230V) plug. The only clue to where it had come from was another label which is in Arabic! I've been told that the Arabic speaking countries have a mix of mains voltages. Measuring the resistance of the element gave a reading somewhere between that expected for the two ratings. However, on close inspection, I found a loose connection inside as well as a dodgey switch, and the element itself turned out to be a 110V one. I have replaced the whole cable and the switch.
The boiler is 108mm long x 45mm diameter, with a standard Wilesco sight glass in one end. It has a safety valve and whistle and no dome or regulator. It is heated by a 110V electric element mounted underneath. The steam pipe is fed down under the base, with no superheating, to the valve chest of the cylinder.
The cylinder is a double acting "piston" valve type, 16mm stroke x approx 13mm bore. It is reversible using a slip eccentric. The flywheel is 69mm diameter and incorporates a pulley which drives a dummy governor.
I have restored the engine to full working condition. Cosmetically, I've removed some dents and replaced some missing parts but left the paintwork as is.
