This is an as yet unidentified model. The person I bought it from thought it was an ADE but wasn't sure. It's easy to see why he thought that. There are certain similarities in style, especially around the top of the boiler. However, I can not find any corresponding ADE model. After investigation and consultation, I am thinking that it's a one-off. Some parts have the appearance of having been manufactured but some don't. I'm assuming, until I find otherwise, that it's a one-off made using some high quality manufactured parts and some well made scratch built parts.
The burner is a single wick meths type. It fits into a Terry type clip inside the firebox. The firebox is turned from aluminium and has a curved sheet steel door which clips into position, obscuring the burner but leaving an air gap. The boiler is a seamless brass tube (with no flue or chimney), 60mm diameter x approx 90mm high. On the top end cap is fitted a steam dome / manifold, fitted to which are the steam feed pipe, a nicely turned whistle and a high quality safety valve. The steam feed pipe has compression fittings at each end and goes directly to the engine frame. The frame is of substantial cast alloy construction. The cylinder is a simple oscillating type, 10mm bore x 17.5mm stroke, with an adjustable trunnion spring. The con-rod and big end are machined from a single piece of alloy. The big end has a brass bearing sleeve and oil hole. The crank shaft has a simple crank throw, an impressive 94mm diameter spoked flywheel and a small pulley. The whole is mounted on a sheet steel base which appears to be pressed but could have been carefully hammered into shape. As acquired, it had a serious leak in the boiler. Needless to say, It has since been repaired.
