The Jensen 70 hasn't changed much over the years so it's difficult to date it. A jensen expert has advised that it's probably a 60's model. The 70 is one of Jensen's simpler models.
It has a nickel plated boiler, 2 1/2" diam. x 6" with a circular glass window for indication of water level, a typical Jensen lever operated whistle and a bog standard safety valve. The heater is a 115V 450W electrical one. The steam feed is via a lever operated throttle to a simple engine with a double-acting oscillating cylinder, approx 1/2" diam. x 5/8" stroke, mounted on a simple folded metal bracket. The boiler mounting ("firebox") and chimney are the usual Jensen salmon pink colour (or should that be color?). The chimney is purely decorative; not even the steam exhaust goes up it. An interesting point is the name plate which was originally marked Style No.35, but this has been overstamped with 70. For safety's sake, I have replaced the original 2 core mains cable and plug with 3 core, with an earth connection to the chassis. Other than this, no repairs have been necessary and, as far as I can see, it's all original.
