This is a very solidly built overtype engine made by Careast.
The boiler is copper, 2" diameter x 6 1/2" long. It's fired by a three wick meths burner with the meths tank located outside the firebox. The chimney is mounted on the end of the firebox using a right angle pipe fitting, so at least some of the burner exhaust can go up the chimney. However, there are also holes along the top edge of the firebox so some will exit through there. Boiler fittings consist of the engine mounting brackets and an unusual design of safety valve.
Steam is fed via an in-line throttle to the back of the port face. The cylinder is a single acting oscillating cylinder, 1/2" bore x 15/16" stroke. Steam exhaust is fed into the chimney. The piston rod connects through a substantial big end to a fabricated crank in the centre of the crankshaft, The crankshaft has a pair of 2 3/4" diameter brass flywheels, one at each end. There is a pair of 3/8" diameter pulleys, also one at each end. The substantial crankshaft bearings have holes for lubrication.
As acquired there were only a couple of very minor problems which were easily fixed. The filler plug for the burner is made of steel and was rusted in, the wicks needed replacing and the safety valve seal was disintegrating.
